On 2 April 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Laung University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni and Vice President of Mae Fah Laung University participated in the 2nd Jiangsu Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Day, a side event of the 5th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Week which was organised by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine via online platform.
In the opening ceremony, there were speeches delivered by Prof. Hu Gang, President of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine; Mr. Huang Xiqiang, Superintendent of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government; Mr. Ninh Thanh Cong, Consul General of Vietnam in Shanghai; Miss Lada Phumas, Consul General of Thailand in Shanghai; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Quang Huy, Vice President of Vietnam University of Traditional Medicine; and Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Laung University respectively.
Additionally, Mr. Hu Gang announced the launch of Chinese Bridge 2022 project which covers the teaching of Chinese language and traditional Chinese medicine, culture and special class of traditional Chinese medicine. This project will bring together more than 150 students from Vietnam University of Traditional Medicine and Mae Fah Luang University.
It is expected to promote cooperation between MLC member countries and Jiangsu Province in the training of traditional medicine practitioners in order to achieve common objectives of improving the well-being of the people of MLC member countries as well as promoting sustainable development and economic recovery in the post pandemic era in the Mekong Sub-region.
