Call for Application: 2023 UCMSR Summer Program “Preserving the Maritime Cultural Heritage” in Fujian, China

     The Global Relations Division is pleased to inform you that we are now open for applications to participate in the 2023 UCMSR Summer Program “Preserving the Maritime Cultural Heritage” from 24 July to 5 August 2023 in Fujian, China.

Program Highlights:

  • Lecture on “Maritime Silk Road in Vision of World Heritage: System and Significance”
  • Lecture on “Heritage? What, Why, Who? Understanding Heritage Values. The Maritime Silk Road’s Contribution to the International Debate”
  • Lecture on “Earth in Architecture: Composition, Building Techniques, and Conservation Issues”
  • Field trips to Maritime Cultural Heritage sites including Tulou, Quanzhou
  • Cultural Experience in Rice cake making and Tea making

Expenses:

ORGANIZER will cover the expenses as below:

  • Accommodations and transportation during the program in China.  
  • Meal, workshops materials, and field trips in China

STUDENT will pay for the expenses during joining the program as below:

  • Transportation and some meals which are not covered in the program
  • Visa (If needed)
  • Health insurance in China
  • Other expenses that are not directly related to the program
  • Round trip airfare

Eligibility:

  • MFU students at undergraduate and graduate levels in any field of study
  • Strongly interested in Maritime Cultural Heritage Preservation
  • Have a good command of English
  • Be in a good physical condition
  • Receive permission from his/her parents to participate in this program
  • Be responsible for all expenses that occurred during the study
