MFU Holds Tea & Coffee Festival 2023 and Thailand Tea – Coffee Network Meeting 2023

     On 6 – 8 July 2023, the Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University, the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Tourism and Sports Office, Chiang Rai province co-organised “Tea & Coffee Festival 2023” in conjunction with “Thailand Tea – Coffee Network Meeting 2023” at Mae Fah Luang University.

     In the opening ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University gave a welcome speech, followed by an opening speech by Mrs. Supapan Muncharoen, Vice Governor of Chiang Rai Province. Moreover, there were guests of honour including Mr. Sert Chaiyananta, Head of Chiang Rai's tourism and sports office; Mr. Puripan Bunnag, Senior Vice President of Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau; and over 350 participants. The event consisted of workshops, seminars, exhibition, Tea and Coffee Networking activity and gastronomical tea tourism. 

     This Thailand Tea – Coffee Network Meeting 2023 was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Mae Fah Luang University and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Tea and Coffee Institute with intention to provide a stage for researchers, academics, farmers, processors, and suppliers to exchange and share information on current situation of tea and coffee industry as well as innovation and technology for valued creation. The event was also expected to strengthen a bridge between academia and industry in order to drive Thailand’s prosperous and sustainable tea and coffee industry.

     The Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University has missions to promote tea and coffee research, provide academic services and transfer knowledge to community aiming to give a strong foundation for local community to improve their quality of life and well-being. 

     Altogether, MFU has played a crucial role in promoting Chiang Rai Province to be a major Tea and Coffee destination in Thailand covering logistics, trade, business negotiations and exhibitions. Being a hub of tea and coffee will help create a competitive advantage and progressive development for the Thai tea and coffee industry.
