MFU Joins “the Consortium for Innovation in Agricultural Education and Research in Asia (CIAERA) & the 2023 Asia Hub Annual Meeting”

     On 15 – 19 July 2023, Asst. Prof. Dr.Nattapan Kongbuamai, a lecturer of the School of Management attended “the Consortium for Innovation in Agricultural Education and Research in Asia (CIAERA) & the 2023 Asia Hub Annual Meeting” in Sanya, Hainan province, China. 

     The Consortium for Innovation in Agricultural Education and Research in Asia (CIAERA), proposed by NAU, aims to create a hub of innovation through collaborations, to leverage the strengths of universities and institutions for sustainable agriculture, to promote regional prosperity, and to enhance the well-being of people in Asia. More than 200 representatives from over 60 domestic and foreign universities, institutes, and enterprises in Asia gathered together to discuss topics related to agricultural science and education innovation, and to jointly create a brighter future for Asian agriculture.

     Additionally, the 2023 Asia Hub Annual Meeting arranged seven academic sub-forums focusing on "Water for Food Security", "Climate Change", "Land Use, Land Cover, and Soil Research in the Asian Region", "Natural Disaster Monitoring, Mitigation, and Response", "One Health", and "Joint Training". 

     In the meeting on Joint Education Innovation, Experienced, New Initiatives, Pilot Programmes, and Future Plan, Asst. Prof. Dr.Nattapan Kongbuamai shared the implementations of Mae Fah Laung University. Moreover, Dr. Kongbuamai visited the vegetable garden of Nanjing Agricultural University and Sanya Yazhuo Bay Science and Technology City that has been developing to be the sci-tech city of China. Sanya Yazhuo Bay Science and Technology City includes 1. Nanfan Science and Technology City, 2. Deep-sea Science and Technology City, 3. University City, 4. Nanshan Harbor, and 5. The Global Transfer Base for Animal and Plant Germplasm Resources.

     Altogether, attending the consortium was not only a follow-up activity to a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mae Fah Luang University (Thaialnd), Nanjing Agricultural University (China) and Michigan State University (USA), but also an effort of MFU to seek collaboration in research and exchange of staff and students in order to promote well-being and sustainable agricultural development in Asia and the globe.
