On 30 March 2024, the School of Sinology, Mae Fah Luang University and Hong Kong Ling Nan Orchestra, China jointly organised ‘the Chinese and Thai Traditional Music Performance’ at Pradu Daeng 1 room, E4 Building, Mae Fah Luang University. The event featured various music performances by musicians of Hong Kong Ling Nan Orchestra and Thai Classical Music Club of Mae Fah Luang University.
In the opening ceremony, there were speeches given by Dr.Teeraparp Predeepoch, Dean of the School of Sinology and Mr. Lee Chi-hung, Founder of Hong Kong Ling Nan Orchestra. Furthermore, Dr.Teeraparp Predeepoch stated that Mr. Lee Chi-hung led members of Hong Kong Ling Nan Orchestra founded in 1985, to perform Chinese music at the opening ceremony of the Youth Sports Competition for Yunnan-Chinese Thai People in Ban Therd Thai village, Mae Fah Luang district. Therefore, the School of Sinology invited Hong Kong Ling Nan Orchestra and Thai Classical Music Club of Mae Fah Luang University to perform together at Mae Fah Luang University.
Altogether, the event contributed to strengthening the relationship between China and Thailand, creating an international atmosphere within Mae Fah Luang University, as well as encouraging students, staff members and the general public to learn about cultural differences and diversity.
