On 23 May 2024, Mae Fah Luang University led by Prof. Dr.Sujitra Wongkasemjit, Vice President and Kaset Thai International Sugar Corporation Public Company Limited (KTIS), led by Mr. Apichat Nuchprayoon, Chief Executive Officer of Bio-Business Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on research and innovation initiatives at KTIS Bioethanol in Nakhon Sawan Province.
The objectives of this cooperation are to foster collaboration in human resource development, explore joint research and innovation projects to optimize sugarcane and sugar production processes, as well as exchange knowledge and academic experience related to the sugarcane and sugar industries, including affiliated businesses. This aims to enhance efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability across the sector.
Additionally, MFU delegation visited the KTIS Group's production lines, including sugar mills, power plants, pulp production, and ethanol facilities, emphasizing environmentally friendly processes aligned with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model. Moreover, Prof. Dr.Sujitra Wongkasemjit along with MFU research and innovation executives discussed potential collaborations across various dimensions, aiming to exchange knowledge and develop new research and innovation topics with KTIS representatives.
KTIS is a leading Thai sugar producer. They utilise byproducts from sugar manufacturing processes such as ethanol plants, bleached bagasse pulp factories, biomass power plants, and bio fertilizer production units.
