APAIE and IAU have gathered a panel of regional experts to share insights on the current and future directions of internationalisation of higher education across Asia Pacific.
Please join APAIE President, Prof Venky Shankararaman, along with IAU Secretary General, Hilligje van’t Land, as they introduce the webinar. IAU’s Giorgio Marinoni will present outcomes of the 6th IAU Annual Global Survey, highlighting findings relevant to the Asia-Pacific region, which will be the focus of discussions for the panel.
Asia & Pacific is the region of the world with the biggest higher education sector, more than one third of existing HEIs in the world are located in Asia & Pacific. However, in terms of internationalization the voice of Asia & Pacific is not yet taking the predominance it should at global level, as demonstrated also by the low participation of HEIs from the region in the 6th IAU Global Survey on internationalization. It is therefore of utmost interest to know how internationalization is understood and evolving in Asia & Pacific. Asia & Pacific is a huge and incredibly diverse region, encompassing very different cultures and education systems. In order to reflect these different perspectives, this webinar will investigate internationalization in Asia & Pacific starting from some relevant trends for the region emerging from the results of the 6th IAU Global Survey on internationalization and discussing them with experts from major countries in the region.
