On 31 August 2024, the Global Relations Division and the Tea and Coffee Institute organised the Matcha Workshop at the Department of Tea, Mae Fah Luang University. The workshop engaged 35 Thai and international students in learning about Matcha, a high-grade green tea ground into powdered form. Participants also, gained hands-on experience and has the opportunity to connect with fellow students.
As one of Thailand’s largest tea producers, Chiang Rai province provided a perfect setting for this workshop. Participants enjoyed tasting matcha and appreciated its rich history and cultural expression of spirituality, peace, or harmony through a lecture on Matcha knowledge and various workshops, including Matcha Tasting (tasting various grades and varieties of matcha); Matcha Fusion (tasting matcha with a variety of milk); and Crafting the Perfect Matcha Dirty (creating their own matcha recipe). All activities were conducted under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyaporn Chuamchaitrakul, Head of the Tea and Coffee Institute, and her team.
