International Students Immerse in Local Thai Culture Through Community Visit

Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษ

On 26 October 2024, international students from Brunei, Finland, France, Indonesia and Myanmar participated in a half-day trip to learn about community way of life and culture at Pha Sak Luang village, Mae Chan Subdistrict. This trip was part of an MFU students’ project competing in the Aomsin Yuwapat Raktin Project 2024. The Aomsin Yuwapat Raktin Project aimed to encourage students to apply the knowledge of the University to develop communities by generating incomes, reducing inequality, and enhancing local business competitiveness through creating additional value in the products and services.

During the trip, international students learned more about Lanna tradition, beliefs, and local people’s way of life through various craft workshops. Ms. Pauline Enola Oceane Fraslin from France shared her experience: “A fascinating escape where every moment seemed frozen in time. A breathtaking view, immersing us in the timeless beauty of the place. We fed the buffalo, participated in a craft workshop and visited a temple imbued with serenity, discovering the simple life of the monks who live there. The mysterious and captivating legends of the region have given an almost magical dimension to this experience. As for flavours, our taste buds were surprised by dishes as atypical as authentic: a spicy fruit salad or a kind of jelly made from young coconut. The art of preparing a dish wrapped in a lotus leaf added a playful touch to this culinary experience. Mae Chan welcomed us with open arms and left us with full hearts and unforgettable memories. This was more than a half-day trip; it was a journey through time, taste, and tradition that left us in awe ”.
