On 9 November 2024, Mae Fah Luang University’s Student Development Affairs Division organised the annual MFU Yi Peng Festival at Landao and in front of the HRH Princess Srinagarindra statue. The event aimed to promote the Yi Peng cultural tradition of the Northern region (Lanna), where the university is located. Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, MFU President, presided over the opening ceremony, joined by university executives, faculty, staff, and both Thai and international students.
The MFU Yi Peng Festival featured a variety of activities, including cultural booths such as making Lanna lanterns, lightening Pang Prateep (Northern candles), as well as an art workshop by the Buddhist Art short programme. A market zone offered food, beverages, and souvenirs, while a children's playground zone provided family-friendly entertainment.
The event also included captivating stage performances, such as musical performances and choral singing by the MFU Band, and traditional Thai-Northern performances by the Thai Traditional Music Club and Thai Traditional Dance Club. Overall, beyond providing entertainment, these activities promoted cultural learning and creative coexistence amid diversity, all set against the beautiful backdrop of the university’s campus.
