On 21 November 2024, a delegation from the Learning Resources and Educational Media Centre (Library) at Mae Fah Luang University led by Ms. Daonapa Suyanon, Director of the Learning Resources and Educational Media Centre, received the "Green Library" Honorary Plaque for the year 2024 from the Thai Library Association (TLA), under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the National Library of Thailand, at Kasetsart University.
The MFU Library is one of five pilot libraries that passed the revised Green Library assessment, which incorporated 35 library evaluation indicators and 63 resource and environmental assessment indicators from the Department of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The five libraries receiving the "Green Library" Honorary Plaque for 2024 are as follows:
1. Learning Resources and Educational Media Centre, Mae Fah Luang University
2. Library, Kasetsart University
3. Academic Resources and Information Technology Center, Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University
4. Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University
5. Science and Technology Library Group, Department of Science Service
Additionally, the MFU Library signed a memorandum of understanding with the Green Library Network to collaboratively develop and provide environmental information services and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the country's Carbon Neutrality goal. A total of 49 organisations, comprising 54 libraries, signed the cooperation agreement. Also, Ms. Daonapa Suyanon was invited to participate in a panel discussion on "Advancing from National to International Green Libraries" to provide guidance for other libraries in continuously and sustainably driving green library development.
