MFU Researcher Wins Award for Tourism Research

On 21- 23 November 2024, Mae Fah Luang University researchers participated in the TSRI Research and Development Personnel Network Forum 2024 (TSRI-RPN2024) at the Regent Cha-Am Beach Resort in Phetchaburi province.  

MFU researchers from various Schools presented research projects and innovations that received grants from the Fundamental Fund and the Young Researcher Fund in both poster presentation and oral presentation categories. 

Seven researchers presented their projects in the poster presentation category, including: Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nattapol Aunsri from the School of Applied Digital Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Saowapa Chaiwong from the School of Agro-Industry, Dr.Kemachart Kemavuthanon from the School of Applied Digital Technology, Acting Sub Lt. Dr. Patipat Tunming from the School of Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Orawan Suwantong from the School of Science, Dr.Naritsada Thongklang from the School of Science, and Dr.Thitipone Suwunwong from the School of Science. Dr.Pornpimol Chaisanit from the School of Management and Acting Sub Lt. Napawat Suebnusorn (on behalf of Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chukeat Noichim from the School of Law) presented in the oral presentation category.

Notably, Acting Sub Lt. Dr. Patipat Tunming, a lecturer at the School of Management, was awarded the ‘Outstanding Award’ in the poster presentation category for his research work titled ‘Prototype of Community Innovation for Khon Kaen Tourism Development in the New Normal based on Local Identities for Creative Economy Sustainability’. He received the award from Prof. Dr. Sompong Klaynongsruang, the Director of Thailand Science Research and Innovation. 

In total, 314 works were submitted across 12 fields. Notably, Dr.Tunming’s research in tourism field was recognised as outstanding among 16 submissions. This achievement highlights Dr. Tunming’s contribution to promoting sustainable tourism development in Thailand and reflects MFU’s commitment to supporting impactful research that fosters sustainable national development. 

TSRI-RPN2024, organised by the Thailand Science Research and Innovation in collaboration with the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, focused on the theme "Preparing Today for Tomorrow's Challenges". It aimed to enhance cooperation in science and research, address future challenges and develop the capacity of science personnel to foster sustainable development in Thailand. This annual forum brought together over 1,000 Thai researchers (experts, Distinguished Research Professors, senior researchers, and young researchers) to collaborate, exchange ideas, and explore future research opportunities.
