Mae Fah Luang University was ranked 8th in Thailand, among 59 Thai universities participating, and 101st in the world out of 1,477 universities from 95 countries, with a total score of 8,475 points in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2024.
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2024 was released on 17 December 2024, by Universitas Indonesia, with a new theme, "Instituting UI GreenMetric World University Rankings: The Way Forward". The rankings evaluate higher education institutions in terms of sustainability through policies, actions, and communication based on six criteria: Setting and Infrastructure (15%); Energy and Climate Change (21%); Waste (18%); Water (10%); Transportation (18%); and Education and Research (18%).
In comparison to 2023, MFU scored higher in two key indicators, including Waste as well as Education and Research. The university has placed importance on waste management, water efficiency and energy conservation measures. The university has not only promoted research and innovation for driving economic, social and cultural values but also encouraged students and other organisations to arrange activities related to environment and sustainable development. This achievement demonstrates the strong commitment of MFU community to consistently drive the university to become a leading university in ASEAN with international recognition, striving for well-being and sustainable future.

1. Kasetsart University - Ranked 34th globally (8,825 points)
2. Mahidol University - Ranked 45th globally (8,775 points)
3. King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi - Ranked 50th globally (8,750 points)
4. Suranaree University of Technology - Ranked 65th globally (8,685 points)
5. Siam University - Ranked 74th globally (8,650 points)
6. Walailak University - Ranked 83rd globally (8,575 points)
7. Mahasarakham University - Ranked 100th globally (8,475 points)
8. Mae Fah Luang University - Ranked 101st globally (8,475 points)
9. University of Phayao - Ranked 106th globally (8,450 points)
10. Maejo University - Ranked 113th globally (8,415 points)
