On 10 April 2017, a delegation from Mae Fah Luang University led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Vanchai Sirichana paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Science and Technology H.E. Prof. Dr. Boviengkham Vongdara in Lao PDR. The invitation was extended by the Ministry as a follow-up visit after the negotiations between MFU and MoST held in Chiang Rai on 3 February 2017.
A signing ceremony of memorandum of understanding between Mae Fah Luang University and the Ministry of Science and Technology was organized by Vice Ministers Mr. Houmphanh Intharath, Dr Sourioudong Sundara and Mr. Bounty Thamith together with the executives from both institutes. This agreement provides a platform for both parties to collaborate and jointly develop innovations in the fields of science and technology for meeting the needs of people in both countries through staff exchanges as well as joint research, training and workshops.
The event was followed by a Baisri Ceremony on the occasion of the Thai and Lao Songkran New Year.
