On 30 June 2025, the School of Nursing and the Center for Academic Services hosted the opening ceremony and reception for students and faculty members from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Deakin University, Australia. They are participating in “the Nursing and Health in Thailand Training for Deakin Students 2025” from 30 June to 5 July 2025 at Mae Fah Luang University.

During the opening session, Asst. Prof. Dr.Chompunut Sopajaree, Dean of the School of Nursing, extended a warm welcome to the participants and introduced students and faculty members from both universities.

This project aims to establish an international learning network in nursing and develop academic collaboration frameworks that will support teaching and research in accordance with international standards among higher education institutions. The programme featured diverse learning activities, including an exploration of Thailand’s public health system, border healthcare, the relationship between Buddhism and healthcare, and a knowledge exchange on Australia’s healthcare system. Deakin University participants also had the opportunity to join study visits and tour various medical service units within the MFU Medical Center Hospital and MFU Hospital, engaging in knowledge and experience exchange in healthcare at all levels—primary, secondary, and tertiary care—including integrative medicine.

This initiative is a crucial activity under the ongoing academic collaboration between Mae Fah Luang University and Deakin University. It serves as a foundational step toward advancing nursing and public health education to international standards. Furthermore, it aims to create future opportunities for student and academic staff exchanges, aligning with MFU’s vision of becoming a leading university in ASEAN striving for well-being and a sustainable future.
