On 6 October 2025, the Myanmar Students’ Organization at Mae Fah Luang University organised the Thadingyut Full Moon Day Celebration at the Institute for Mekong Basin Civilization, Art and Culture, Mae Fah Luang University.
Thadingyut is one of Myanmar’s most significant cultural and religious festivals, marking the end of Buddhist Lent (known in Thailand as Ok Phansa). It commemorates the Buddha’s return from heaven and is a time for people to seek forgiveness from elders, express gratitude, and make merit in remembrance of departed loved ones.
The highlight of the MFU event was a candle-lighting ceremony held as a Buddhist offering and symbolizing blessings, peace, and good fortune.
This activity not only provided an opportunity for Myanmar students to celebrate and preserve their cultural heritage, but also successfully promoted greater cross-cultural understanding within the MFU community.
