Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, President, welcomed an executive delegation from Souphanouvong University (SU), Lao People’s Democratic Republic, for an official visit and academic cooperation meeting on 27 November 2025. The SU delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Vira Anolac, President of Souphanouvong University.
This visit was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic cooperation, which was signed on 20 February 2025, and witnessed by the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Lao PDR at the Government House in Bangkok.
The meeting involved Deans and representatives from various schools to discuss potential areas of cooperation between the two universities. Both sides explored opportunities to expand collaboration in several fields, including tourism, information technology, and agro-industry.
The main collaborative activities discussed cover student and staff exchanges, joint curriculum development, interdisciplinary research cooperation, capacity building initiatives, and scholarship provision. The dialogue underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to enhancing academic excellence and human resource development, which is a vital force for sustainable regional development.
Furthermore, the SU delegates visited the MFU Wellness Center to explore the center’s diverse services, including the Health Care Department, Health Check-up Center, Skin and Aesthetic Clinic, and the Sports & Health Service Center.
The constructive meeting between the two universities marked another important milestone, reaffirming MFU’s determination to strengthen collaborative efforts between Thailand and Lao PDR. This aims to enhance the quality of life, learning opportunities, and long-term sustainable development in the GMS region.
