Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), represented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont, Vice President, and Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Head of the Global Relations Division, took part in a meeting with Ms. Kelia Cummins, U.S. Consul General in Chiang Mai, and her delegation during their visit to Chiang Rai Province.

The meeting was held on 24 February 2026, at the Governor’s Reception Room, Chiang Rai Provincial Hall, during a courtesy call on Mr. Prasert Jittpleecheep, Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Province.

The discussions centered on three priority areas of shared interest: environmental challenges — particularly PM 2.5 air pollution and forest fire haze — water resource management and river contamination, and pathways for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.

Both sides agreed to deepen their partnership and translate commitments into concrete action at the provincial level. The Consul General reaffirmed the United States' readiness to support Chiang Rai Province in enhancing environmental quality and improving the well-being of local communities.

During the meeting, Asst. Prof. Dr. Romyen emphasised MFU's readiness to serve as a coordinating partner and to drive both short- and long-term action plans in support of integrated environmental and water management. This reflects the university's proactive role as a higher education institution contributing to regional development and fostering international collaboration at the subnational level.
