MFU Joins "Chiang Rai Pride 2026" Parade, Promoting Inclusion and Diversity under the Theme “Be You, Be Proud, Be Pride”
Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษOn 14 June 2026, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) participated in the “Chiang Rai Pride 2026”, organised by the M Plus Foundation Chiang Rai in collaboration with public, private, and civil society partners across the province. Mr. Choocheap Pongchai, Governor of Chiang Rai Province, presided over the opening ceremony at Kasalong Square, Central Chiang Rai, as part of the vibrant Pride Month celebrations.
The event aimed to affirm the dignity and human rights of all people, promote awareness of gender equality and foster a more inclusive society. It also served as an opportunity to highlight Chiang Rai’s rich cultural diversity while contributing to cultural tourism and local economic development.
Through its active participation in the Pride Parade, MFU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment where diversity is respected and valued. The University seeks to prepare students to become responsible global citizens who embrace differences and uphold the dignity of others. The MFU delegation was led by Chinavorn Teekawattanakorn, President of the Student Union of MFU, alongside members of the Mae Fah Luang University Human Rights Club.
Speaking at the event, Chinnavorn emphasised the importance of collective action in advancing inclusion and diversity at the university, provincial, national, and international levels.
“We want to be part of the movement that advances Pride and strengthens the acceptance of diversity in Chiang Rai and beyond. Everyone has a role to play in raising awareness, amplifying voices, and fostering greater understanding and acceptance. Change is never created by one person alone; even a small voice can become powerful when joined by many others. We believe that every activity, every platform, and every effort reflects our commitment to building an open society that respects differences and values every identity equally. Pride Month is more than a celebration—it is an affirmation that everyone has the right to be themselves with pride and dignity. We are proud to contribute to making those ideals a reality.”
Prayfa Phongthong, a representative of the MFU Human Rights Club, also marched in the parade and highlighted the broader significance of Pride for the Chiang Rai community.
“Participating in Pride is an opportunity to affirm our visibility and celebrate diversity. Chiang Rai Pride seeks to highlight not only the gender diversity of the LGBTQIA+ communities, but also the ethnic, cultural, and social diversity that has long been part of Chiang Rai’s identity.
Pride is not just a celebration; it is a vital platform for promoting equality and human rights. It reflects the core belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect, regardless of gender, identity, race, ethnicity or cultural background.”
