Categories: SDG03 SDG04 SDG17 ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษThe School of Nursing and the Center for Academic Services at Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) are co-hosting the "Nursing and Health in Thailand Training for Deakin Students 2026" from 20 to 27 June 2026. This programme serves as a dynamic platform for faculty members and students from Deakin University, Australia, and MFU to exchange knowledge on nursing and public health. The official opening ceremony and a welcome reception for the delegation was held on 22 June 2026, at the General Sampao Choosri Building.
Following the warm welcome, the Australian delegation paid respects at the Statue of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, and esteemed founder of the Thai nursing profession, before receiving an overview of the week-long programme.
The intensive eight-day training integrates academic sessions with fieldwork, offering Deakin students an in-dept look into Thailand’s healthcare system. The curriculum covers the national healthcare landscape, border health challenges, unintended pregnancy prevention, as well as Traditional Lanna and Chinese Medicine. Furthermore, participants will gain firsthand clinical experience at health facilities, including the MFU Medical Center, Mae Sai Hospital, and Mae Fah Luang Hospital, where they will observe operations across the intensive care, surgical, medical, emergency, and outpatient departments.
Beyond clinical site visits, the international students will immerse themselves in local ethnic communities and visit the Hall of Opium to understand regional public health contexts related to substance abuse. Throughout the programme, they will also participate in cultural exchanges with MFU's "Nursing Buddies," reinforcing the initiative's emphasis on cross-cultural learning alongside academic excellence.
The programme offers a crucial window into Thailand’s multifaceted healthcare system spanning ethnic health, border health, and alternative medicine, while simultaneously giving MFU students reciprocal insights into Australia’s healthcare system.
By leveraging Chiang Rai's unique position as a multicultural border region, MFU's School of Nursing continues to advance its international educational partnerships. Through these enduring exchange initiatives, MFU steadfastly prepares its graduates with the intercultural competence essential for today’s globalised healthcare environments. This commitment perfectly aligns with the university's mission to foster global citizens, promote well-being and drive a sustainable future.
