On 26 June 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), warmly welcomed faculty and staff members to the annual “Meet the President” event. She embraced this occasion to share the university’s major milestones over the past year, clarify key policies dedicated to uplifting the well-being of the MFU family, and inspire collective action to drive the university toward sustainable national progress.

Before the main address, the Public Relations Division energized the room with an engaging, eco-conscious quiz, raising awareness about global environmental care with practical questions such as, “How many years does it take for plastic to decompose?” This opening activity highlighted the vital role that university members play in practising everyday social responsibility. Attendees then watched an inspiring short film by the Learning Resources and Educational Media Centre, showcasing the real-world implementation of the Zero Waste concept through a model “Green Library” on campus.

In her presentation, the President emphasised MFU’s core mission of shaping future global citizens through its 15 schools and 76 programmes. Currently, the university thrives at its optimal capacity with over 14,800 students, including international students who make up 10% of the student body from all corners of the world. Among its 45,000 alumni, many have returned to become a vital force for the university as staff and faculty members. Others have pursued successful global careers, equipped with the knowledge and communication skills acquired at MFU to build fulfilling lives and careers worldwide.

Research excellence also reached an all-time high this past year, fuelled by a growing research team and advanced infrastructure. With certified laboratories specialising in herbal science, cosmetics, natural products, and mycological research, MFU’s next step is translating these discoveries into tangible benefits for society. By strengthening ties with entrepreneurs and industry leaders, the university aims to bring commercial innovations to market while directly uplifting local communities for long-term social impact.

Standing side by side with the public is a silent vow MFU has always honoured. The university consistently bridges academic expertise with local wisdom to create practical solutions for regional challenges, ranging from combating toxic river contamination and managing the PM2.5 and transboundary haze crises to providing disaster relief. Through over 440 academic service projects engaging more than 150,000 participants this year, MFU continues to ensure public safety, secure local livelihoods, and preserve local cultural heritage through active community participation.

Another central mission is the promotion of public well-being, as MFU aspires to be a leading medical training hub in the region. Future plans encompass instructional management, advanced medical science research in the Greater Mekong Subregion, and service provision for citizens at all levels. These initiatives include constructing academic laboratories and service buildings, expanding clinical training capacity for medical students, and organising health-related academic service projects to support the future aging society. Today, the MFU Medical Centre Hospital operates 41 specialised clinics, with plans to establish various centres of excellence to support a broader, more comprehensive scope of healthcare services.

Furthermore, the President addressed the university’s financial stability, further expansions planned for the medical centre, and the ongoing development of campus facilities designed to enhance the well-being of the Mae Fah Luang University community.

In the final session, the President answered pre-submitted questions from staff members, clarifying details regarding employee and family welfare, performance evaluations, career advancement opportunities, and further education scholarships for operational staff.

Concluding her address, the President emphasised that for MFU to overcome future challenges, staff members must remain innovative, proactive, and ready to voice constructive ideas. By visualising shared goals, the community can unite its collective strength to create meaningful value for individuals, the organisation, and society—paving the way for sustainable progress and well-being. Ultimately, this vision will be realised through the university's core organisational value: “MFU FIRST: Unite as One.”
