iMatS Researchers Succeed at CSITF 2026 in Shanghai

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) extends its heartiest congratulations to the research team from the Center of Innovative Materials for Sustainability (iMatS), School of Science. The team has brought great pride to Thailand and the university by winning the Gold Medal and the NRCT Honorable Mention Award at the 9th China (Shanghai) International Exhibition of Inventions (CSITF 2026), held in Shanghai, China, from 11–13 June 2026.

Award-Winning Innovation
•    Project Title: Low-Carbon Dual-Functional Thermal and Acoustic Insulation Panels from Agricultural Waste Pulp 
•    Research Team: Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nattakan Soykeabkaew, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattaya Tawichai, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Uraiwan Intatha.

This award-winning project is a green material innovation that upcycles agricultural waste into high-performance insulation panels. Featuring a dual-function design, the panels provide both thermal insulation and sound absorption. This innovation effectively helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, curtails agricultural open burning, and promotes efficient resource utilisation, fully aligning with the Circular Economy concept and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In addition to receiving the prestigious Gold Medal from the international judging committee, the project was honoured with the NRCT Honorable Mention Award by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). This special award recognises outstanding Thai research and innovations that demonstrate high potential for industrial scalability alongside positive economic, social, and environmental impacts.

This remarkable milestone reflects Mae Fah Luang University’s robust research and innovation capabilities in developing knowledge and technology that address sustainable development. It also showcases the researchers' unwavering commitment to elevating Thai research to the international stage, gaining global recognition, and driving tangible real-world applications.
