Call for Applications: CommTECH Camp Highlight 2026 – Stream 2: Engineering Innovations

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for CommTECH Camp Highlight 2026 – Stream 2: Engineering Innovations, hosted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia.

Continuing the success of the Community and Technological (CommTECH) Camp, this international short programme brings together students, academics, and professionals from around the world to explore engineering innovation, sustainable technology, and community engagement under the theme:

"Solving Local Problems with Global Knowledge."

The programme adopts a Project-based Learning (PbL) approach, where participants collaborate in multicultural teams to develop innovative solutions for real-world community challenges. Throughout the programme, participants will attend lectures, workshops, seminars, technical visits, and cultural activities before presenting their final projects to an international audience.

Participants will also experience Indonesian culture through Indonesian language classes, traditional music and dance workshops, visits to government and non-government organizations, community engagement activities, and excursions to Surabaya's famous attractions.

Upon successful completion of the programme, including the Final Project and Final Presentation, participants will receive an official certificate issued by ITS.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

• Be an MFU undergraduate student in their second year of study or above, or a currently enrolled master's or doctoral student, from any academic discipline.
• Have a good command of English (the programme is conducted entirely in English)
• Be committed to participating in all programme activities
• Hold a valid passport before departure
• Be able to cover personal expenses and costs not included in the scholarship

Scholarship Opportunities

ITS offers limited scholarships for international participants.

MFU students may apply for:

1 Full Scholarship

Includes:

• Programme fee
• Accommodation
• Local transportation
• Workshop materials
• Seminar kit
• Lunch
• Educational and cultural trips
• Airport pick-up and drop-off
• Programme vouchers

Student is responsible for:

• Round-trip airfare
• Visa fee (if applicable)
• Health insurance
• Personal expenses

1 Half Scholarship (50%)

Student pays USD 800

Scholarship covers the remaining programme fee.

1 Partial Scholarship

Student pays USD 1,000

MFU Travel Support

Eligible students may apply for an MFU Travel Grant of THB 20,000.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be an MFU student in the second academic year or above
• Applicants must meet the following minimum cumulative GPAX requirements:
  - Bachelor's degree students: GPAX 2.75 or above
  - Master's degree students: GPAX 3.25 or above
  - Doctoral degree students: GPAX 3.25 or above
• Meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
  • TOEIC ≥ 600
  • TOEFL PBT ≥ 550
  • TOEFL CBT ≥ 213
  • TOEFL iBT ≥ 79
  • IELTS ≥ 6.0
  • MFU-TEP ≥ 60

Step 1: Complete the Application Forms

Step 2: Prepare the Required Documents

Please prepare the following documents:

1. Academic Transcript (download/request via REG)
2. Certificate of Student Status (request via REG)
3. Parental Consent Form with copy of parent’s ID/passport
4. Copy of passport
5. Student ID card
6. Photo with plain background

Note: Applicants must possess a valid passport before submitting the application.

Step 3: Submit Your Application

Email all completed application forms and supporting documents to:

Application Deadline: Thursday, 23 July 2026, at 2:00 PM

Step 4: Attend the MFU Online Interview

Interview Date: Friday, 24 July 2026

Platform: Zoom

Shortlisted applicants will receive a confirmation email together with the Zoom meeting link.

Visa Information

Participants should check Indonesia's latest visa requirements before travelling.

• ASEAN citizens may enter Indonesia under the current visa policy.
• Other nationalities may require a Visa on Arrival (VoA) or an electronic visa (e-Visa), depending on their nationality.
