MFU Launches “How to Live and Learn on Campus 2026” to Welcome 28th Batch of Freshers

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), through the Student Development Affairs Division, hosted the annual orientation programme "How to Live and Learn on Campus (HLLC) 2026," for over 4,400 first-year Thai and international students enrolling in the academic year 2026. 

During the opening ceremony held on 27 July 2026 at the Queen Sirikit 72^nd Jubilee Sport Arena (MFU Indoor Stadium), Prof. Dr. Vanchai Sirichana, Chairman of the University Council and Founding President of MFU, extended a warm welcome to the new students. He also offered inspiring guidance on navigating life within the "University in the Park" campus, wishing all freshers great success in achieving their academic and personal goals. 

A key highlight of this year's event was the MFU President’s special appearance in a welcoming music video for the new students, who are referred to at MFU as ‘Freshers’ and representing the university's 28th batch of ‘Lamduan’ flowers. Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of MFU, took the stage to warmly welcome the students to the MFU family, engaging in a friendly Q&A session to answer their questions directly. She encouraged freshers to fully participate in the upcoming orientation activities, which are designed to help them enjoy campus life and grow into quality global citizens. 

Held from 27 – 31 July 2026—before the semester officially started on 3 August—the HLLC programme consisted of two main themes:

• How to Live: this theme helped students navigate their new environment and social life at MFU through inspiring talks and engaging activities with special guest speakers.
• How to Learn: this theme consisted of faculty-based orientation sessions for undergraduate students across MFU’s 14 Schools, where they met deans, professors, alumni, and senior students to gain academic guidance and future career insights.

The event featured various inspirational and interactive sessions, including:

• Cyber Security Gen Z: Smart and Safe from Online Scams: A workshop led by expert officers from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau to equip new students with essential cyber-threat awareness and online safety skills. 
• Upgrade Your Life: Design Your Space with Passion: A session with Mr. Peeradon Hemyakorn (Pao), owner and CEO of iHAVECPU (a major Thai custom computer and gaming hardware retail business), who shared practical ways to leverage technology for studies, career, and personal growth.
• Life as a Teen: A talk with Ms. Kanticha Chumma (Ticha), a multi-talented actress, model, and TV host, who engaged first-year MFU Freshers in an open conversation about youth, academic life, love, and essential topics such as relationships and sexual health. She emphasised the importance of safe practices, emotional self-care, and mutual respect while maintaining self-worth.

In addition, the university arranged a wide range of highlight activities under HLLC:

• Traditional Lanna Bai Sri Su Kwan Ceremony & Khantoke Dinner: A cultural immersion into Northern Thai traditions and traditional “Hong Khwan” blessing rituals. Students enjoyed local cuisine, music, spectacular Lanna performances by MFU Thai Dance club and Thai-Lanna Music club. 
• MFU Freshers Night: A grand finale featuring live performances by the MFU Band.

Sharing food, music, and traditions helped students build strong bonds with senior students while developing strong connections among peers across diverse cultures. These experiences empowered them to adapt happily to university life and grow into quality global citizens.   

MFU places a strong emphasis on student potential development and holistic readiness before academic life begins. These preparatory activities were designed not only to help new students adjust to a new social environment but also to cultivate a strong sense of purpose, confidence, happiness, and global responsibility as they begin their journey at MFU.
