MFU Welcomes International Students with “Chiang Rai Discovery 2026”: A Journey into Local Culture and New Friendships
Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษOn 9 August 2026, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), through the Global Relations Division in collaboration with the International Student Club, proudly hosted the student engagement activity, “Chiang Rai Discovery 2026” (Session 1). This immersive one-day field trip invited new international students to step outside the classroom and experience the vibrant local way of life. The journey guided them through some of Chiang Rai’s most iconic landmarks, including Choui Fong Tea Plantation, Mae Sai Special Economic Zone, the Golden Triangle, and Wat Phra That Pha Ngao in Chiang Saen District.
As part of the 2026 international student welcome series, this excursion was thoughtfully designed to help new arrivals feel at home in Chiang Rai—the beautiful home of MFU. Guided by enthusiastic Thai student volunteers and senior international peers, the trip was much more than a sightseeing tour; it was a heartfelt introduction to the region's rich historical, economic, and cultural heritage. Through engaging games and interactive activities, students laughed, bonded, and began building a supportive community in their new home away from home.
Transitioning to university life in a new country can be challenging. To support students during this vital period, the programme directly addresses common hurdles such as language barriers, culture shock, and homesickness. Beyond offering a deep dive into Thai culture, the “Chiang Rai Discovery” initiative empowers students with essential intercultural communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. It marks a beautiful first step in their MFU journey, laying a strong foundation for them to grow into compassionate global citizens.
