MFU Welcomes New International Students, Fostering Cultural Diversity and Global Citizenship
Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษOn 14 August 2026, the Global Relations Division (GRD) organised the “New International Students Orientation” for international students enrolling in the first semester of Academic Year 2026. This semester, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) welcomed over 400 new international students including full-time and exchange students from 30 countries across the world.
In her welcoming address, Asst. Prof. Dr. Korakot Chansareewittaya, Assistant to the President, highlighted the university's pride in its diverse international community and reassured students of MFU’s full support throughout their academic journey.
Adding to this vision, Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Head of Global Relations Division, emphasised that the students’ experiences at MFU will help them become true global citizens. She encouraged students to adopt three guiding principles:
- See the world: Keep an open mind and understand people beyond borders.
- Save the world: Care for society, local communities, and our planet.
- Serve the world: Use your knowledge and abilities to make a positive difference.
Designed to support a smooth transition into university life, the orientation featured essential knowledge-sharing sessions. Topics included immigration rules and regulations, health insurance, exchange and scholarship opportunities, and navigating academic and student support services. Crucially, the programme also equipped students with practical local knowledge, covering topics such as surviving natural disasters in Chiang Rai and avoiding scams and fraud.
Beyond informational sessions, the event fostered a welcoming atmosphere through cultural performances and interactive games. It brought together senior international students and representatives from various Schools and divisions, providing a valuable networking platform. This collaborative approach ensured new students felt informed, welcomed, and connected as they began their educational journey.
The orientation programme reflects MFU’s ongoing efforts to enhance internationalisation at home and serve as a hub for global-minded leaders. This aligns with the university’s commitment to driving positive change—not only within the Greater Mekong Subregion but also on the global stage—by nurturing graduates with broad perspectives, strong values, and the readiness to contribute constructively to a more sustainable and equitable world.
