Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan (Short-term (PA)) 2027/2028

This fellowship offers opportunities for eligible researchers and doctoral candidates from ASEAN Member States to undertake collaborative research at leading universities and research institutions in Japan. The Fellowship is open to all fields of research and aims to strengthen international research collaboration while supporting the professional development of researchers in the region.

Key Fellowship Information

Eligible applicants: Ph.D. holders and doctoral candidates expected to obtain a Ph.D. within two years (subject to the programme eligibility requirements)

Research fields: All fields of research

Fellowship duration: 1–12 months

Commencement period: Between 1 July 2027 and 31 March 2028

Application deadline: 16 November 2026

Expected result announcement: April 2027
