MFU and Fulbright Strengthen Thailand–U.S. Education Network to Foster Global Citizens
Categories: SDG04 SDG17 ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษOn 26 August 2026, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) and the Thailand– United States Educational Foundation (TUSEF), commonly known as Fulbright Thailand, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen educational collaboration between universities in the northern region of Thailand and institutions in the United States of America.
The MOU was signed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, and H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation Board of Directors, at Narathip Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Bangkok. The signing ceremony was witnessed by distinguished representatives, including Dr. Vipat Kuruchittham, Executive Director of Fulbright Thailand, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as members of the Fulbright Board of Directors and executives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The signing marks an important milestone in the partnership between MFU and Fulbright Thailand as strategic global partners, representing a significant step toward expanding academic collaboration between Thailand and the United States and creating opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The MOU aims to establish a long-term partnership by promoting the exchange of students, professionals, researchers and learners through Fulbright programmes, with a focus on the northern region of Thailand. It also aims to strengthen the capabilities of Thai international relations officers to support the internationalisation of their universities. Furthermore, the two institutions will partner in areas of common interest, such as sharing knowledge on current trends, organising activities that enhance cultural understanding and promote global citizenship, and advancing internationalisation of higher education.
Under the MOU, both parties will promote and expand cooperation by leveraging their respective strengths and complementary expertise. MFU and Fulbright Thailand have already maintained a strong relationship through various activities and collaborative programmes. To date, more than 10 MFU faculty members and staff have participated in Fulbright programmes involving professional training, academic exchange, research, and further study, reflecting the longstanding academic relationship and strong ties between the two organisations.
The signing of the MOU reaffirms MFU’s commitment to advancing internationalisation and expanding its global academic network, while creating greater opportunities for faculty members, researchers, staff, and students to connect and exchange knowledge with educational networks in the United States.
Through this partnership, MFU and Fulbright Thailand will continue to build a strong and sustainable educational collaboration, creating new opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional development, and international engagement while contributing to the development of globally minded citizens equipped to make a positive impact in an increasingly interconnected world.
