Learn, Taste, Connect: MFU Empowers Student Change Agents Through Coffee

Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษ

On 5 September 2026, the Global Relations Division, in collaboration with the Tea and Coffee Institute at Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), organised a hands-on workshop titled “Coffee Discovery Workshop: Learn • Taste • Connect • Become a Change Agent.” Held as part of the orientation activities for new students of the 2026 academic year, the workshop facilitated students’ adjustment to their new environment and fostered an international campus atmosphere. Over 50 students from Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Germany, Vietnam, China, and Japan participated in the event.

Coffee is a major economic crop in Chiang Rai province, where MFU is located, and holds strategic importance in both national and global agricultural sectors. MFU develops comprehensive expertise across the entire coffee value chain—from cultivation to consumption—through specialised coursework in agricultural technology and food technology, as well as a professional short-course programme titled “High-Quality Coffee Production Expert.” Leveraging coffee as a shared cultural and economic medium, the workshop encouraged Thai and international students to connect local agricultural heritage with broader global insights.

The workshop offered students both foundational knowledge and practical coffee-brewing experience through interactive, hands-on learning. It created an open space for students to connect, exchange ideas, and establish networks. The initiative also sought to encourage interested students to develop their leadership potential as student change agents who drive positive community and global outcomes.
