Press Conferene for Chiang Rai Tea and Coffee Festival 2019

            On 22 May 2019, Chiang Rai’s Deputy Governor Narong Rojjanasothorn, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, Dr. Panom Winyayong, and Director of the Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University, Dr. Piyaporn Chueamchaitrakun attended the press conference for “Chiang Rai Tea and Coffee Festival 2019” held at the Inspire by Princess Coffee Shop in Doi Hang Agro-Tourism and Learning Center, which is part of the Kamlangjai Project under the Royal Initiatives of HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

          This festival will be held in July and is jointly organised by Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Association of Northern Tourism Federation in Chiang Rai, Chiangrai Coffee Lover and Thai AirAsia.

          With a collaboration between the public and private sectors, the Tea and Coffee Festival 2019 is expected to promote Chiang Rai Province as a major Tea and Coffee destination in Thailand covering logistics, trade, business negotiations and exhibitions. Being a hub of tea and coffee will help create a competitive advantage and progressive development for the Thai tea and coffee industry. Furthermore, the festival offers a stage for tea and coffee producers, exporters, importers, processors, and researchers worldwide to build the tea and coffee business and an extensive research network.

          This year, the entire month of July is dedicated to promoting tea and coffee activities. During the first week of July, there will be the grand opening of Tea & Coffee Month in which tourists will enjoy recommended selections from over 40 coffee shops in Chiang Rai as well as having a chance to get souvenirs and win free domestic flight tickets.

          From the 10th to the 12th of July, 2019, the Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University in collaboration with Food Innopolis, Chiang Rai Province and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau will organise the Tea and Coffee International Symposium 2019 and ASEAN +6 on Tea and Coffee Business Summit at Mae Fah Luang University. Moreover, there will be the Chiang Rai - ASEAN Coffee & Tea Festival 2019 from the 12th to the 16th,  2019 at Central Plaza Chiang Rai.

      Tea and Mindfulness is the theme of the third week. All the activities held at Cherntawan International Meditation Center will focus on tea drinking to stimulate the mind and the practice of meditation.

        Finally, from the 26th to the 28th of July 2019at the end of July, Rai Ruen Rom organic farm and Sawanbondin Farm and Homestay will hold a workshop trip entitled “Forest Tea Artisan Ep. 1”. In this workshop, tourists can experience various menus from organic teas from the Hin Lad Nai Village in Chiang Rai Province.
