On 2 October 2026, a Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) lecturer and several students won prizes at the DIT Awards 2026 (Digital Innovation & Technology Awards 2026), held at Chiang Mai University.

Co-organised by the IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Thailand Section, the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Chiang Mai University, Mae Fah Luang University, and the University of Phayao, the DIT Awards showcase innovative digital products and services. The competition provides a platform for students, creators, and organisations to present work with real-world potential, create economic value, and demonstrate the strength of Thai innovation in the digital economy.

A team of MFU students won the Gold Award in the Student Category for their project, “WebGL-Based Childbirth Simulation.” Developed by the Human Interaction for Tech-Enhanced Creativity research group (HiTech) at the School of Applied Digital Technology, in collaboration with the School of Nursing, the project combines gaming technology with nursing knowledge to create an interactive educational resource.

The winning student team members included Mr. Suphanat Thakaeosri, Miss Nalintip Wongjaroen, Miss Pichaya Santajitto, Miss Mewanlee Laecher, Mr. Worakarn Thongpim, Miss Thitinadda Prapatham,
Miss Anna Wato. They were supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr.Yootthapong Tongpaeng and Dr.Kemachart Kemavuthanon from the School of Applied Digital Technology, alongside Miss Soifah Pinsuwan and Miss Amornrat Deeboonno from School of Nursing.

Additionally, Mr. Nawin Worawek received the Bronze Award in the student category for “Durian Integrated Knowledge Map (DIKM).” This work is part of a project to establish an expert hub for precision agriculture and smart farming to support export-oriented durian production. DIKM utilises digital technology to integrate durian-related data into a map-based system, connecting agricultural information. This achievement highlights the successful application of technological knowledge to advance precision agriculture.
Furthermore, Dr. Kemachart Kemavuthanon, a lecturer at the School of Applied Digital Technology, received the Silver Award in the Public Organization category for “Evidence-Driven Virtual Reality for Multiphase Earthquake Preparedness and Response Training.”
The VR project enable users to practice earthquake preparedness and response before, during, and after an earthquake, using simulated scenarios informed by real-world disaster data.
Also developed under the HiTech research group, this project was a collaboration with Professor Osamu Uchida of Tokai University, Japan. It builds upon research supported by the Fundamental Fund for fiscal year 2025, with funding from Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI).
The success of MFU’s lecturer and students reflect the University’s comprehensive support in cultivating knowledge and providing opportunities for students to develop projects that solve real-world problems. Moreover, these innovative projects and cross-border collaborations align perfectly with the University’s mission to serve as a “Global Partner for Well-being and Sustainable Future.”
