Appreciation and Congratulations Event for Emeritus Professor Dr. Kevin David Hyde

On 25 October 2019, Mae Fah Luang University held an event to congratulate Emeritus Professor Dr. Kevin David Hyde, all the researchers and staff of the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research on their great achievements in the national and international levels.

Thanks to all researchers and staff’s hard work and dedication, MFU was ranked

  • In the 601-800 tier in THE-WUR 2020 with a high score for the research citation.
  • Ranked 1st in Thailand, 1st in Asia and 19th in the world for Plant and Animal Science category in the U.S. News 2020 Best Global Universities rankings.

Under a leadership of Emeritus Professor Dr. Kevin David Hyde, the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research was Ranked 1st in the world in the Mycology category in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) 2017.

Moreover, Emeritus Professor Dr. Kevin David Hyde was named as highly cited researchers in the plant and animal science category in the Highly Cited Researchers List produced by Clarivate Analytics in 2014-2018.

Since 2010, the Center has published more than 700 SCI research papers and successfully produced 28 Ph.D. and 6 M.Sc. graduates. Now, 65 Ph.D. students are studying at the Center.  

In his speech, Emeritus Professor Dr. Kevin David Hyde expressed his appreciation to the Founding President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vanchai Sirichana for all the support and also to MFU for the freedom in conducting his research. He also conveyed his gratitude to all his Ph.D. students and research team members from over the world for their works and cooperation. Dr. Kevin stated that the centre will continue to maintain a position as the No.1 Mycology research university in the world and to keep MFU in the high position as the number one university in Thailand and Asia.

The great success in the world rankings confirms MFU as the best research university for mycology, plant and animal science in Thailand, Asia and the world.
