International Conference on the Impact of Trauma on Global Health

On 13-15 November 2019, experts and health professionals from around the world participated in the School of Medicine Annual Scientific Conference 2019 (MedASC2019) to discuss and exchange knowledge under the theme of the Impact of Trauma on Global Health at Mae Fah Luang University.

This conference was held by the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing, Mae Fah Luang University in collaboration with Oregon Health & Science University, the Trauma Association of Thailand, the Society of Trauma Nurses Thailand and the Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital.

There was a series of interesting presentations about the global burden of trauma by Dr. Daniel Kertesz, WHO Representative to Thailand, trauma services, trauma care system, trauma registry as well as case discussions on boys and coach in Thai cave, Thoraco-abdominal injury and extremities injury and how to control violence in ER.

Furthermore, there were several workshops by Asst. Prof. Dr. Krongdai Unhasuta from the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University on trauma treatment skill, role of nurse in trauma fast track, advanced trauma management and burn wound management for nurses so they would know how and what they have to in the real situations in order to ensure the best result.

Altogether, MFU has made a great effort into providing the opportunity for medical personnel to learn and apply trauma care services and system for practical use so that patients will be taken care of effectively and efficiently.
