MFU’s Student Exchange Programme is designed to offer a one-semester or one-year study abroad programme for students from foreign countries to study their chosen fields in an international atmosphere at MFU.
The programme is beneficial for international students anticipating careers in Asia or with multinational corporations as well as for those seeking advanced degrees in international or area studies.
Since 1998, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) has been established as a public autonomous university situated in Chiang Rai province, Thailand, the gateway to the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), in the heart of the ASEAN region.
Over twenty-five years, MFU has been widely recognized as one of the region’s fastest growing institutions. MFU provides over 71 cutting-edge and essential programmes in Health Science, Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines. The university has not only used English as a medium of instruction but also promoted “Blended Learning” as a method of teaching and extra curriculum activities.
Utilizing the “University in the Park” concept, MFU offers an environment and culture highly conducive to living and learning, attracting numerous visitors from many countries annually. MFU operates in the semester system, in which there are two regular and compulsory semesters in each academic year: the first semester and the second semester. Each semester comprises at least fifteen weeks of study and at least two weeks of final examinations.
The number of semestral credits refers to the total number of credits earned by a student through grades A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, D and F for all the courses taken in each semester.
Academic Evaluation
The evaluation result received by a student for each course shall be represented by a letter grade, which is translated to a grade point, as detailed below.

A student can register for a minimum of 9 credits or a maximum of 22 credits in a regular semester.

If you are accepted to MFU, you will receive e-mail notification of their acceptance. The acceptance package and visa documents will be sent to your home university’s international exchange office.
After you receive all documents, you must submit the Acceptance of Admission, Arrival form, Accommodation Form, and Flight information to Global Relations Division (GRD) at: https://form.jotform.com/202661616857461
Note: Additional documents may be requested by Consular officers in addition to the documents above. Please note that Consular Officers reserve the right to require additional documents, or an interview, as deemed necessary, without prior notice. The Royal Thai Embassy/ The Royal Thai-Consulate General reserves the right not to accept any visa application whereby any required document is absent.
On Campus Dormitory
The University has increased its accommodation capacity and offers up to 5,000 beds in 16 dormitory buildings for students.
Students’ residences are just a ten-minute walk from the main university buildings. Students have privacy within a safe, friendly, and lively learning environment.
All exchange students are recommended to stay in the dormitories with the intention of encouraging students to develop their social skills through living together, learning together, and helping one another.
The dormitory fee is approximately 4,000-8,000 THB per semester (with 4 persons per room), inclusive of water bills but exclusive of electricity bills, and equipped with a fan.

Off Campus Dormitory
Regent Mansion is located 500 meters (5 minutes) from Mae Fah Luang University, with a free shuttle bus service available. Additionally, it offers a wide range of facilities.
The dormitory fee is approximately 4,500-4,800 THB per month (with 2 persons per room), exclusive of electricity bills, water bills, and equipped with air-conditioning.
