MFU Joins the Virtual MOU Signing Ceremony for the Technology and Innovation Support Center between the Department of Intellectual Property and Thai Educational Institutions

     On 13 August 2021, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, Prof. Dr.Sujitra Wongkasemjit, on behalf of the President, participated in the virtual signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic cooperation under the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) via online platform. 

     The signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Department of Intellectual Property, Mr. Vuttikrai Leewiraphan and representatives from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Mae Fah Luang University, Maejo University, Mahasarakham University, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Silpakorn University, Suranaree University of Technology, Thammasart University, Thanksin University, and Ubon Ratchathani University.      

     This agreement between the Department of Intellectual Property, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and 10 Thai educational institutions having policies on intellectual property management, aimed to push forward the establishment of cooperation and academic development of research, technology and innovation between institutions at both national and international levels. The agreement also expected to promote awareness of intellectual property, promote effective research development and encourage the commercialisation of intellectual property.

     The President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri said in her speech via a recorded video that MFU has conducted research in different fields especially  research on natural products, herbs and local products which can add value and transform research results to products with commercial value. Overall, it can be said that MFU researches contribute to enhancing Thai industry’s competitiveness. She added that becoming a part of the Technology and Innovation Support Center network of the World Intellectual Property Organization is a significant opportunity to promote value-added research, provide researchers an access to intellectual property information, analyse technology trends and exchange knowledge between researchers around the world. This network will encourage the commercialisation of intellectual property which result in enhancing competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs and innovative business in order to be able to effectively compete in the global market.
