MFU Student Shares Ideas in the ASEM Workshop on Youth Learners' Mobility in an Agile World

     On 24 September 2021, Ms. Artinuch Ketchaichana, a fourth-year student of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme, the School of Management participated as one of youth leaders from Asia and Europe in the ASEM Workshop on Youth Learners' Mobility in an Agile World an SDG 14 "Life Below Water" Learning Programme as Case Study.

     In the opening remark, Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, the Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand stated that this workshop aimed to generate innovative solutions on how Asia and Europe under ASEM framework can utilise digital platforms to create a virtual mobility learning programme to support education for SDGs. Such solutions should allow learners to benefit from the exchange student experience and educational resources of ASEM partners without having to physically travel to another country. This workshop used SDG14 "Life Below Water" as an example to provide practical basis for discussion because it is one of examples of concrete and mutually beneficial cooperation between Thailand and the European Union.  

     As the representative of young people who are the key stakeholders in this new learning mobility, Ms. Artinuch Ketchaichana shared her ideas and viewpoints from her experience about the differences between physical mobility and virtual mobility. The discussion contributed to a concrete example of the SDG Virtual Mobility Learning Programme which can be applied to other SDGs or other topics of interest. In addition, the outcomes of this workshop will be presented to the 8th ASEM Education Ministers’ Meeting (ASEMME8) which will be held virtually on 13 - 14 December 2021.

     This workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; the Department of European Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; SEAMEO RIHED; the ASEM Education Secretariat; the British Embassy to Thailand, the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand and the British Council on 23 – 24 September 2021. It consisted of two panel discussions which brought together expert speakers from European Commission, UNESCO, UN Global Compact and youth representatives from the 4th ASEF Young Leaders Summit.
