Science Students Present Their Work at the “Northern Talent Mobility Day and Industrial R&D Fund Fair”

On 18 January 2017, students from the Materials Engineering programme in the School of Science at Mae Fah Luang University participated in the “Northern Talent Mobility Day and Industrial R&D Fund Fair” at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel in Chiang Mai. The presented work was funded under the Talent Mobility project by the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) and the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC). The Talent Mobility project aims to provide fundingfor researchers from both universities and government research institutes to jointly develop their work with selected entrepreneurs in order to enhance Thailand’s technology and innovation competitiveness.

Researchers from the Materials for Energy and Environment Research Group (MEE) in the School of Science were funded by STI and OHEC to develop engineered stone products in collaboration with Phathum Company Limited in 2016. Engineered stone is a high value product which Thailand imports from abroad; therefore, this research will add value to the raw materials belonging to the Phathum Company. In addition, students from MEE gained experience with experiments, data analysis and teamwork, all of which enabled students to develop their skills and to further their knowledge.

The research team included Asst. Prof. Dr. Suthee Wattanasiriwech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee Wattanasiriwech, Dr. Sitthi Duangphet, Dr. Chuleeporn Thanomsilp, Miss Saowanee Suta, Miss Jaruwan Kamthachan, Mr. Suparuek Chatprathum and Mr. Theetiwat Phonlayut.
