A Visit from the Counsellor of Education, the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok

     On 16 May 2023, Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, Acting President of Mae Fah Luang University and executive members warmly welcomed the representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok; Mrs. Feng Junying, the Counsellor of Education and Mrs. Wang Huan, the First Secretary at the Reception Room, Vanchai Sirichana Building. The representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok congratulated Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn on her appointment as the Acting President of Mae Fah Luang University.

     MFU and China have officially established cooperation since 1999. MFU received a great support from the Chinese government and the Chinese embassy in Bangkok in helping establish Sirinthorn Chinese Language and Culture Center and the Confucius institute to support the teaching of Chinese language and culture, promote research and spread knowledge and understanding of China. Moreover, the Chinese embassy in Bangkok has facilitated Chinese teachers to teach at MFU and promoted several cultural activities. The great and meaningful success of cooperation in Chinese language teaching and culture exchange can be seen from the number of students who want to study Chinese language in School of Sinology as well as the number of students who join many Chinese cultural activities. Furthermore, there were several official courtesy visits and academic activities between MFU and the Chinese Embassy.

     Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Zhang Tao, the Chinese Director of the Confucius institute at Mae Fah Luang University led the representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok on a campus tour to visit the School of Sinology, the Sirinthorn Chinese Language and Culture Center, and the Confucius institute to meet with the Dean of the School of Sinology, Chinese volunteer teachers and staff.

     Additionally, the representatives of the Chinese Embassy went to M for U centre to discuss with the Global Relations Division and talk with MFU Chinese students regarding their academic and student life.
