A Visit to Cambodia to Deepen Academic Cooperation and Attend Thailand Education and Jobs Fair 2024

    On 15 – 17 February 2023, delegates from the Global Relations Division and the Placement and Co-operative Education Division of Mae Fah Luang University led by Assoc. Prof. Dr.Darunee Wattanasiriwech, Vice President and Mrs. Kittima Santi, Head of Placement and Co-operative Education Division visited Cambodia to further strengthen academic cooperation with Cambodian universities and participate in Thailand Education and Jobs Fair 2024.

    MFU representatives attended the unifair event at CIA FIRST International School, World International School Cambodia and American Intercon School to provide international students with an up-to-date information about the university’s study programmes and admission requirement. 

    Moreover, MFU delegates visited the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh to attend the meeting with the members of the Cambodia Higher Educations Association (CHEA) led by H.E. Mr. Heng Vanda, Chairman of CHEA’s Board of Directors and President of Vanda Institute; and H.E. Dr.Ly Chheng, President of CHEA’s Board of Directors and Director General of BELTEI Group. The meeting provided the opportunity for representatives of Thai universities to meet and explore collaboration with representatives from private high schools and higher education institutions in Cambodia. 

    Furthermore, MFU delegates attended the Thailand Education and Jobs Fair 2024 at Cambodia – Japan Cooperation Centre (CJCC) building, Phnom Penh University (RUPP) to promote information about the university’s study programmes, admission requirement, scholarship opportunities, and exchange programme for Cambodian students which would help them find the right choice for their education and future careers. With the participation of over 30 Thai universities and educational institutions as well as 25 Thai companies, this year, the Fair attracted over 1,300 attendees, especially aspiring students in Cambodia.

    In the opening ceremony, there were speeches given by H.E. Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia; H.E. Mr. Oung Borat, Secretary of State and Head of the Cabinet of Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports; H.E. POK Pann, Secretary of State Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. In addition, there were three special panel sessions on “scholarship opportunities in Thailand” by Thai universities’ representatives; “Orientation to Studying in Thailand” by alumni who have successfully completed their studies in Thailand; and “Jobs and career opportunities” by Thai companies in Cambodia. 

    The Thailand Education and Jobs Fair 2024 Fair marks Thailand's grand fair in Cambodia for three consecutive years, organised by the Thai Embassy of Cambodia in cooperation with the Thai Alumni Network and Go Study Thailand. It was expected to offer an opportunity for students and the general public in Cambodia to meet representatives from leading Thai companies in Cambodia as well as Thai universities and get information about job opportunities and education scholarships in Thailand. 

    Altogether, Mae Fah Luang University has an unwavering commitment to cultivate quality human resources and develop excellence in academics, research, and innovations for the society while seeking to build strong partnerships with universities in Cambodia.
