MFU and YUFE Renew MoU for Continued Collaboration

On 6 June 2024, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) led by Asst. Prof. Dr.Nathapornpan Uttama, Vice President and Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) led by Mr. Yan Ming, Vice President signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation at Doi Ngam Meeting Room, Vanchai Sirichana Building (AD1), Mae Fah Laung University. The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from both universities, including 
•    MFU executives: Dr.Teeraparp Predeepoch, Dean of School of Sinology; Assoc. Prof. Dr.Zhang Tao, the Chinese Director of the Confucius institute at Mae Fah Luang University; and Dr.Nichan Singhaputargun, Acting Head of Global Relations Division.
•    YUFE executives: Yu Yong, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Dean of School of Overseas Education; Li Xiaojun, Dean of Zhonghua Vocational College; and Du Fuchang, Deputy Director of the Finance Department.

This agreement renews the MoU signed in 2019, which expired in April 2024. MFU and YUFE have actively collaborated under the previous agreement, particularly in business Chinese. This renewal will undoubtedly strengthen the existing collaboration, including student exchange programmes, double degree programme, visiting scholar programmes, and joint research. 

In the academic year 2023, YUFE arranged a short course for 20 MFU Business Chinese programmme students. The School of Sinology and YUFE discussed the possibility of opening two more courses in trade and investment, as well as services, to expand opportunities for MFU students to study at YUFE. Additionally, YUFE is pleased to support MFU students who want to pursue their studies at YUFE and apply for full scholarships under the Chinese government funding. 

Under this agreement, YUFE also aims to develop cooperation with the School of Management in promoting academic activities, exchange programme, joint research, and double degree programme at both undergraduate and graduate levels between the two universities.
