On 1 – 7 September 2024, the School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University and Takasaki City University of Economics, Japan, jointly organised the TCUE-MFU student exchange programme 2024. Twenty students from both universities participated in the programme at Mae Fah Luang University.
Led by Dr. Jaruwan Hatapasu, the exchange programme featured special lectures on “International Trade in Mae Sai, Chiang Saen, and Chiang Khong districts: Impact of the China-Laos Railway on Neighbouring Countries’ Business, Particularly Tourism” by Ms. Pagaimas Viera, Deputy Chairperson of Chiang Rai Chamber of Commerce, and “Border Economics and International Development” by Mr. Fabio Calzolari, a lecturer from the School of Social Innovation. In addition, the proramme included university introductions, an MFU campus tour, and study visits to Chiang Khong, Mae Sai, Mae Suai, Wiang Kaen, and Wiang Pa Pao districts.
During the study visits, participants from both universities gained insights into border economics and trade, border security, multicultural environments, Thai- Laos-China logistics and trade, and local business development. They also had the opportunity to participate in tree-planting and explore the natural surroundings.
Mae Fah Luang University and Takasaki City University of Economics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) since 2019, with a goal of facilitating educational and scholarly exchange between the two universities.
