On 3 – 5 October 2024, Dr.Nichan Singhaputargun, Acting Head of the Global Relations Division, attended the Global Education Summit 2024 as a guest of honour and keynote speaker on the topic “Customized Models to Empower Student, Repositioning the Universities for the Achievement of SDGs with Local Technologies & Manpower”. The summit was held at Chandigarh University, India, under the theme “Sustainable and Equitable Education: Sharing of Innovation, Expertise and Technologies for a Unified Future.”
The Summit brought together 60 esteemed academicians from 50 renowned universities in 30 countries to engage in meaningful discussions, forge strategic alliances, and explore innovative approaches to enhancing the quality and accessibility of education globally. A distinguished panel of speakers included Prof. (Dr.) Gerardus't Hooft, Nobel Laureate in Physics (1999); Thirapath Mongkolnavin, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi; Dr. Dinesh Shukla, Chancellor and Founding President of American International University West Africa, Gambia; Prof. Dr. Matilde Maria Olarte Martinez, Vice Rector for Cultural, Heritage Sustainability and Campus Development, University of Salamanca, Spain; and Jai Inder Singh Sandhu, Senior Director, Chandigarh University.
Furthermore, there were sessions dedicated to sharing perspectives and engaging meaningful discussions on various topics, including 1) Global Collaboration for Enhancing Sustainability through Research and Innovation, 2) Enhancing with National Governments Towards the Use of Innovation Technologies, 3) Customized Models to Empower Student, 4) Repositioning the Universities for the Achievement of SDGs with Local Technologies & Manpower, and 5) Role of Universities in Promoting Empathy, Women Empowerment, and Social Engagement.
Additionally, Dr.Nichan Singhaputargun visited Mumbai to meet with representatives from the Royal Thai Consulate-General and discuss potential collaborations in visiting scholar programme, short course training, and student exchange programme with India Institute of Technology Bombay and DY Patil University.
Overall, participation in this summit provided a valuable opportunity to promote the university, share knowledge, explore potential collaborations, and expand professional networks with representatives from other universities.
