On 26 November 2024, the Medicinal Plant Innovation Center of Mae Fah Luang University, the School of Medicine, MFU Medical Center Hospital, Cancer and Immunology Research Unit, and MFU Gut Microbiome Research Group co-hosted an "Exclusive Talk with Special Guests" on the topics of ‘Immunogenetics and Genomics’ and ‘Brain Mapping and Neurosurgical Precision’ at the School of Medicine, MFU.
This activity was held to provide a platform for academic knowledge exchange in immunogenetics and neurosurgical precision from global experts (Visiting Professor exchange). It was part of the “Project to upgrade herbal research to medical use at the international level with the BCG Model base” under the Reinventing University project 2024.
Prof. Charlie Teo, a global neurosurgeon from Omniscient Neurotechnology, Australia, Conjoint Professor at University of NSW, and Consulting Professor at Duke University Medical Center, gave a presentation on "Brain Mapping and Neurosurgical Precision," focusing on the integration of Quicktome technology for improved neurosurgical outcomes.
In addition, Prof. Veron Ramsuran, an expert in genetics from the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa, shared his knowledge on "Immunogenetics and Genomics," highlighting advances in immunogenetics, genomics, and their implications for personalized medicine.
Moreover, the guest speakers visited various research centres on campus, including Medicinal Plant Innovation Center, Scientific and Technological Instruments Center, the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research, and MFU Medical Center Hospital.
The special talks provided an opportunity for researchers and healthcare personnel to learn and share experiences with international experts, as well as explore further collaborations, leading to the advancement of medicine and research.
