The International Scholarship Students Meet the President

     On 12 September 2017, the International Scholarship Students Meet the President event was held to officially welcome all scholarship students to Mae Fah Luang University, one of the excellent higher education institutions in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region (GMS). This special opportunity was also provided so all scholarship students could meet and socialize with friends from other schools and countries.

     This year, 2017, marks the 12th year that MFU is awarding scholarships to international students in the GMS region. Started in 2005, MFU Scholarships for International Students has already supported a total of 107 scholars. 62 students have successfully graduated and 45 students are now studying here. The main purpose of the scholarships is to promote human resource for developing the region.  The scholarships are also expected to promote international atmosphere in MFU as well as further sustain the friendship and understanding between Thailand and neighbouring countries. This academic year, MFU have welcomed 18 scholars including 8 bachelor’s degree students, 9 master’s degree students and 1 doctoral degree student from Myanmar, Bhutan, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia.  

     In the welcoming ceremony, MFU Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chayaporn Wattanasiri stated that their potentials and scholarship would pave the way to be future leaders in this region. With this opportunity, they would all be significant ambassadors for the region who would mobilise the region and the world to achieve sustainable development in the future. They were expected to further sustain the friendship and understanding between Thailand and neighbouring countries as well.

     Dr. Chayaporn wished success and prosperity to every scholarship student and also encouraged scholarship students to learn about other cultures by participating in the various international events and share their perspectives and ideas with lecturers, friends and staff.
