To keep all healthcare workers safe while they are caring for patients as well as prevent the transmission of Covid-19, the Scientific and Technological Instruments Center in collaboration with the School of Medicine and the School of Science at MFU has developed “do-it-yourself” medical equipment from readily available materials.
The equipment includes aerosol boxes for incubation, acrylic boxes for Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ARI) Clinic, acrylic boxes for blood collection, a foot pedal hand sanitizer dispenser and the powered air-purifying respirator, etc.
Additionally, the Intellectual Property Management and Innovation Development Office has produced ear bands that help avoid itching and scratching behind people’s ears by using a laser cutting machine.
