A Visit from the Institute of International Education for Further Collaboration

On 29 July 2020, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni warmly welcomed the delegates from the Institute of International Education (IIE) led by Regional Director for Southeast Asia, Dr. Jonathan Lembright. The purpose of this visit was to discuss cooperation possibilities between MFU and IIE on scholarship programme and English support.

In the discussion, MFU offered a partial scholarship for international student to pursue a bachelor’s degree programme at MFU under the Program for Refugee Educational Placement (PREP). PREP is a program of the Platform for Education in Emergencies Response (PEER) initiative implemented by the IIE Southeast Asia Office in Bangkok, Thailand. The program aims to support displaced students within the Asia-Pacific region to complete a university degree.

IIE also publicised the scholarships in the field of information technology for MFU students. Additionally, MFU and IIE were expected to offer the TOEFL Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP) at MFU in the future.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is a private, non-profit educational organisation headquartered in New York. Founded in 1919, IIE is the oldest and largest educational exchange agency in the United States. Altogether, this visit was a beginning step for constructive cooperation between MFU and IIE in intercultural understanding promotion and educational opportunities across the Asia Pacific region.
