The Office of Border Economy and Logistics Study: OBELS

Objectives

The OBELS serves as a centre for economic information related to border trade and logistics, particularly in the Upper Greater-Mekong Subregion. OBELS provides information service to the general public, scholars, and both the public and the private sectors.  With such a capacity, OBELS contributes to raising the level of logistics-related knowledge, promoting the human resources development and competitiveness of the private sector and the country. Ultimately, such achievement will improve the quality of life.

 

Missions

  1. To set up and manage a think tank, gather both primary and secondary data on trade and investment, logistics, tourism, economic and social development as well as gather statistics at the provincial, national and regional levels  
  2. To analyse research related to economics, trade and investment, logistics, tourism, economic and social development and create the Border Environmental Socio-Economics (BESE) Index
  3. To provide academic services and publications in trade, investment, logistics, tourism and economic and social development
