Admission Requirements

Qualifications of applicants

  1. Applicants must have a strong desire to study at Mae Fah Luang University.
  2. Applicants must be physically healthy without any diseases or conditions that might inhibit their ability to study.
  3. Applicants must have graduated from the upper secondary education level or equivalent with the following conditions:
    1. Graduation from Grade 12, according to the American education system; or
    2. Graduation from Year 13, according to the English education system; or
    3. Graduation from GCE O-Level or IGCSE equivalent to the upper secondary education, according to the English education system; or
    4. Graduation from GED, according to the American education system; or
    5. Graduation from other systems of high school curriculum or equivalent, according to the highest basic education curriculum of each country.
  4. Applicants must be approved by the schools to be eligible for admission.
  5. Applicants for the School of Law and Applied Thai Traditional Medicine programme and Traditional Chinese Medicine programme and Physical Therapy programme and the School of Nursing are required to be able to use Thai in listening, speaking, reading, and writing at a competent level. The applicants in the School of Law must pass an interview administered by the School of Law.

English Preparation Course

  1. Mae Fah Luang University requires all new students to complete the Intensive English Course before the semester starts. 
  2. The requirements is waived for those who have a TOEFL or IELTS English proficiency test result that is equivalent or greater than the following criteria;
    1. TOEFL Internet-based 32
    2. IELTS 4.5

  1. Applicants must have graduated from a curriculum that is accredited by the Ministry of Education or the university council. Furthermore, the qualifications of applicants must meet the requirements set by each programme.
  2. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  2. Applicants must have a Master’s degree or equivalent.
  3. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with honours or equivalent.
  4. Applicants must submit  their results for the English proficiency test according to the following criteria. The test results must not be older than 2 years from the date of the exam. In the case that any curriculum has set higher scores, the criteria by the programme admission shall be used.

  6. In the case that the applicants have English proficiency test results lower than the criteria, they will be accepted to study in the programme under certain conditions. They will have to submit their results of the English proficiency test within the first semester of their study or they will have to enroll in the course “Academic English for Graduate Studies 1”; otherwise it will be considered that they have not passed the admission process. The tuition fee of the course is as announced by the university. Those who pass “Academic English for Graduate Studies 1” are considered to have met the English proficiency test criteria.
