MFU Strives Together for Sustainable Internationalization: Preparing Learners and Staff to Become Global Citizens

Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษ

On 18 December 2024, the Global Relations Division organised a workshop titled "Next Generation Internationalization: Adapting to Change for the Future of International Affairs". The workshop was honored to have Asst. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont, Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED) and Advisor to the MFU President on International Affairs, as the keynote speaker.

The primary objective of this workshop was to enhance the potential of staff at the Global Relations Division by providing them with a profound understanding of the deep concept of "internationalization" and enabling them to share this knowledge with the MFU community. Emphasis was placed on creating an ecosystem that supports learning in a multicultural environment, while preparing students and staff to become "global citizens" who can adapt to the constant volatility of today’s world.

Throughout the workshop, participants exchanged ideas and discussed the development of key "future skills" such as creative thinking, systematic problem-solving, conflict management, leadership, as well as knowledge in digital literacy, financial literacy, health, and environmental sustainability. These skills are expected to help prepare students to become global citizens and live happily and successfully in the changing world.

Additionally, discussions focused on advancing the Global Relations Division’s mission, such as promoting Internationalization at Home and Abroad through impactful and resource-efficient programmes and activities, fostering collaborations with strategic partners, and enhancing the skills, capabilities, and learning opportunities for staff at all levels.

This workshop aligns with the goals outlined in the revised Fifth Development Plan of Mae Fah Luang University (2022–2026), reviewed in 2024. The plan emphasizes building an internationalized ecosystem to prepare learners and staff with adaptability and resilience to navigate changes in the modern world.

The Global Relations Division continues to move forward with comprehensive internationalization efforts to position MFU as a hub for global learning. These efforts aim to empower the university community to become global citizens, capable of addressing the challenges of an ever-changing world in a sustainable manner.
