Mae Fah Luang University Students Volunteer at 14th Singha Summer Camp

Categories: ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษ

On 8 April 2025, Thai students from Mae Fah Luang University’s Krudoi Club and international students from Austria, Belarus, Cameroon and France volunteered as teachers for the 14th Singha Summer Camp at Singha Park Chiang Rai.

The Singha Summer Camp is a summer programme designed to foster learning and development in children and youth, particularly those residing near Singha Corporation's businesses locations. Aimed at children aged 8-12, it provided a variety of learning experiences including science, English, Chinese, cooking, sports, and arts.

MFU students taught English and Chinese to the young participants, helping them develop skills, explore their interests, and potentially pave the way for future career paths.

Miss Pailin Pimprasan, a student from the Teaching Chinese Language programme, School of Sinology, and a member of Krudoi Club, shared her experience of working with international students as volunteer teachers. She expressed her impression of their hard work and excellent cooperation. She noted that they were friendly towards club members and the children. Despite the language barrier, they tried very hard to communicate with coworkers and participants.

Mr. Akama Eseme Arturo Cantiller, a Cameroonian student from the Business Administration programme, School of Management, also shared his thought, stating that it was a truly rewarding experience to share knowledge while connecting with young minds eager to learn and grow. Beyond the classroom setting, this trip provided his first encounter with incredible wildlife such as giraffes and zebras—an unforgettable moment that deepened his appreciation for nature.

Working together on initiatives like the Singha Summer Camp offers significant advantages for both Thai and international students, fostering the development of crucial global citizenship skills. By engaging in meaningful cross-cultural interactions and contributing to the local community, both groups of students develop the essential competencies and mindsets needed to thrive as informed and engaged global citizens in an increasingly interconnected world.
